Similes (Daily Lesson)

Similes are figures of speech that compare two different things using the words "like" or "as" to highlight a shared quality. They make descriptions more vivid and imaginative.

Examples of Similes:

  1. "Brave as a lion."

  2. "Light as a feather."

  3. "Cool as a cucumber."

  4. "Slept like a log."

  5. "Fast as lightning."

  6. "Sweet as honey."

  7. "Busy as a bee."

  8. "Clear as crystal."

  9. "Fight like cats and dogs."

  10. "Shine like a diamond."

Why Use Similes?

  • They create strong imagery.

  • They make writing more engaging.

  • They help readers understand abstract ideas by comparing them to familiar things.
